The 16th Asia Cup, which will be played as One Day Internationals (ODIs) and will be hosted by Pakistan, is also known as the Super 11 Asia Cup due to sponsorship reasons.Six teams are competing in the competition.It is slated to take place from August 30 to September 17, 2023.The current champions are Sri Lanka.With four matches taking place in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches taking place in Sri Lanka, this is the first Asia Cup to be staged in multiple nations.The competition includes the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Nepal, who qualified by winning the 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup, has now joined them. The competition will be contested in a "hybrid format" for the first time, with the games being organized in two nations. Except for India, which declined to visit Pakistan because to opposition from the Indian Government, all teams will play at least a few games there.The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed the dates and format of the competition in its January 2023 announcement of the pathway structure and calendar for 2023 and 2024.

The COVID-19 epidemic caused the event to be postponed from its original 2021 date to 2023. On July 19, 2023, the tournament's schedule was released.[16]

FORMAT

The tournament's groupings and structure were revealed on January 9th, 2023, and the six teams were divided into two groups of three.A total of 13 games will be contested, including a final, six Super 4 games, and six league games.The winners of the qualifier competition (2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup), India, Pakistan, and Nepal, were put in Group A, while Sri Lanka, the defending champion, was assigned in Group B with Bangladesh and Afghanistan.To the Super 4, the top two teams from each group advance. The top two teams will then face off in the championship game.

A1 and A2 seeds were given to Pakistan and India. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were seeded as B2 and B1, respectively. Nepal and Afghanistan would replace Pakistan or India in Group A and Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in Group B, respectively, if they were to advance to the Super Four stage.

The qualifying of teams


While Nepal qualified for the main event for the first time through the 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup, which was held in April/May 2023 in Nepal, defeating UAE in the final, the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council automatically qualified for the competition.
